a special message from my mum about what this means to her:

As parents, we love and nurture our children and prepare them as best we can for their futures. Then they leave home to begin their adult lives elsewhere...

Often, of an evening, I go out into the backyard and look up into the sky, with the stars shining brightly.  And when the moon rises, I send lots of love and good wishes to my 'babies', knowing that the same moon will be shining down on them.  I tell them that "I love you to the moon and back a million times".  Then I go back inside, feeling content, knowing that my sentiments have been sent out into the universe to touch their hearts. 

This is why the phrase "I love you to the moon and back" is so special to me.
