'no place like home': collection release

'no place like home' is an homage to soft furnishings, quiet comforts and the feeling of knowing you're safe to belong. with warm, dusty colours, house iconography and inspiration from vintage folk art designs, 'no place like home' invites you in for a warm hug and a place to rest your head <3

concept ~

the concept of 'home' is something that's always stuck with me and planning a collection around it was simply a given in my endeavours. to be honest, the original concept for this was actually going to be around the theme of 'homesick', and would've had a more somber and bittersweet approach to it. but the more i worked on it, the more i started to drift into the tenderness of home and how special it is to feel at peace in a place you cherish.

i think the idea of home means so much to me is because i've always been looking for it ~ a place to feel at ease, to belong. it's safe to say that that hasn't always been the case for one reason or another, sometimes we're just trying our best to make it through and that's just the way it is. but now, i feel very grateful and lucky to be in a space that i am, with the people i'm with and the community that's around me. i feel so loved.

this collection ~

i can't tell you how proud i am of this collection ~ i've tried a lot of new things this year, some with success and some without, but honestly that's been the goal over these past 12 months. and you know what? every step has led me here, with a collection of pieces i've poured so much love and intention into that i've really blown myself away. this feeling is truly months and months of hard work and i'm so glad it could be here for my final release of 2025.

the thing i'm MOST proud of though, are these magnetic bookmarks ~

did you know i nearly gave up on this idea? i thought i couldn't make it work ~ countless prototypes, colour swatches, insert thicknesses, magnet sizes and strengths, adhesive solutions, hooping logistics  ~ i thought it was just idealistic, ambitious dream. but after about a month of trials, i finally cracked it! it takes 2 types of adhesive solutions, 12 hours of curing, 1 layer of cutaway stabiliser, 4 1mm x 8mm magnets, and luckily only 3 colour changes to put together.

oh and the keychains?? WELL did you know they're actually vintage buttons?? yep! my friend emma from sydney found them for me in a secondhand textile shop! how crazy! i was already in the planning stages for this theme when she messages so they were so perfect i wanted to cry. now you don't have to use them in the bookmark if you don't want to, but it does make your book look INSANELY cute! ;)))

journal card ~

something else i'm INCREDIBLY happy about is the linen journal cards ~

this tapestry is actual something my mum made in 2003. her creative work has been a major source of inspiration for RODEO, being something that i always looked up to with awe and understood how special and unique things are when they're handmade. i remember seeing her makes hanging up in our grandparent’s and family friends houses and i remember feeling SO proud her because she was so clever and talented. it's very surreal to experience these feelings again but for my own work, and seeing how much people enjoy it and think it's special, it's honestly astonishing.

i was able to scan the existing piece and edit it down to size to make into this journal card. i've called it a journal card because i think it would be such a sweet keepsake to include in journal spreads, collages, or scrapbooks because this is where my love of crafting came from, but you can use it however you like! i was a little bummed that i wasn't able to include the fabric edging but the dimensions weren't right (plus it was too big to fit in my scanner), but i'm genuinely ecstatic with how it turned out.

ps: a free journal card will be placed in any order that contains a 'no place like home' collection item <3

final feelings ~

no matter how tired, or frustrated, or inadequate i might feel, being able to do this type of creative work is an absolute privilege and honour and something i treasure everyday. being able to express and pour my heart into a craft that i'm so proud of, and then i get to SHARE that, like you're actually joking! all things aside though, this has been a phenominal feat that i've spent the past 4 months working on, and i hope you love it as much as i do :)))
